Grußwort des Präsidenten der "International Federation for Choral Music", Eskil Hemberg

- Eskil Hemberg
The International Federation for Choral Music is celebrating its 20th anniversary in a year filled with war and anxiety amongst men, but also with an enormous joy for a feeling of togetherness, in a big family, the whole choral community. It started with a major international information meeting summoned by Royce Saltzmann to be held in New Orleans, Missisippi in 1980 and then the federation was founded in 1982 with a German professor, Paul Wehrle, as our first president.
It gives me great pleasure to recognize his initial work for this federation and to thank him and all German colleagues attending the International Festival of Sacred Music in Rottenburg am Neckar for doing choral music with such excellence and grand esprit! I have recently performed a Peace concert with my own choir in Stockholm, music that could bring man and man together, music that is meant to give us peace: Dona nobis pacem! Please consider this theme when celebrating the IFCM 20th anniversary with your festival!
